Wolfsburg to terminate Bendtner contract

Wolfsburg are preparing to release Nicklas Bendtner after his latest misdemeanor has left him out of favor with club management.

The former Arsenal striker has 15 months left on his current deal but has been subject to disciplinary issues over the past few months – the latest was being fined for arriving late to training, with Bendtner reportedly telling the Wolves that he overslept.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs confirmed they are looking to off-load the Denmark international as soon as possible after he was banished to the reserves and forced to train alone.

“We have attempted to hold talks with his advisers and have discussed a solution. I think that there will be a decision soon,” Allofs told Bild.

“We have decided that he does not have to come in for now. The fact that he has been training on his own recently was not something we wanted to carry on.”
