Sherwood confident of Villa turnaround

Gareth Bale snubbed at Wales player of Year Award

Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood is confident of turning Aston Villa's fortunes around following their 1-0 defeat to West Brom on Saturday.

Saido Berahino flicked home a James Morrison effort to score the only goal of the game at Villa Park.

And while Sherwood believes the Baggies deserved to win, he was frustrated with a lack of cutting edge from his players.

"I think they [West Brom] deserved to win the game," he told BBC Sport after the game.

"I think we showed a little bit more appetite in the second period and got more balls into the box, but didn't really create too many clear-cut chances."

"We're obviously disappointed but we know where the problems lie and we will try and put it right and I'm sure we will.

"They did stifle our creativity and credit to them for that, but obviously it was disappointing from our point of view.

"As I say, I recognise the problems at the moment and I need to look at it again and make sure I'm not just being emotional, but we'll be fine, we're going in the right direction."
