Vidal blasts Bayern into the lead
Coman doubles advantage after break
Rode adds third just a minute later
Bayern make it fives wins in five
The Bundesliga champions put in a confident performance against newly-promoted Darmstadt and took the lead after 20 minutes thanks to a thunderous strike from Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal.
Die Roten then put the game to bed in the second half with two goals in quick succession as French youngster Kingsley Coman doubled their lead before Sebastian Rode struck just a minute later.
FCB manager Pep Guardiola made three substitutions after that as the reigning champions held onto their lead to claim their fifth consecutive victory, making it a perfect start to the Bundesliga season.
The newly-promoted side were unbeaten so far this season, and after three successive draws they recently got their first win of the season with an impressive 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, but they were always second-favourites against the reigning champions.
And it didn't take Bayern long to go ahead, with Vidal smashing them into the lead in the 20th minute with a shot from 25 yards past the diving Darmstadt goalkeeper Christian Mathenia.
Douglas Costa got the assist for Vidal's opener, and had two attempts himself as the game ticked towards the half-hour mark, but both were blocked before they could challenge Mathenia.
It wasn't as if Darmstadt didn't have their own chances, and Marcel Heller came close but couldn't squeeze his shot home from a tight angle at the end of a counterattack, while Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer was called into action earlier on, and used his trademark sweeper-keeper style to clear the danger.
Vidal came close to doubling Bayern's advantage in the 37th minute from Costa's corner, but his header was saved, before Costa got another crack at goal himself with a left-footed effort.
Their next chance fell to Coman, but his header from Mario Gotze's cross just missed the top corner, and Bayern headed into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
FCB were pushing to double their advantage just after the break and came close through Mario Gotze before Coman scored to make it 2-0.
Just a minute later and the score was 3-0 thanks to Sebastian Rode, with the champions increasing the pressure to put the game to bed early.
With a firm lead in place, manager Pep Guardiola replaced Vidal with defensive-minded Spanish midfielder Javi Martinez, before Thomas Muller, who is in good scoring form, was introduced in place of Douglas Costa and Xabi Alonso came on for Jerome Boateng.
That flurry of changes disrupted their momentum, but it also killed off the game and allowed Bayern to hang onto their advantage and win the game 3-0, making it a perfect start to the season with five wins out of five.
