Lille coach Herve Renard believes goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama was extremely unlucky to be sent off during Friday's 1-1 draw against Rennes.
The Nigeria international was shown a straight red card on 71 minutes for what referee Stephane Jochem felt was a clear foul in the area on Ivorian striker Giovanni Sio during this weekend's French Ligue 1 encounter.
However, replays suggest the sending off was a harsh decision, and Renard has absolved his first-choice keeper of much of the blame.
"You watch the images on the penalty and expulsion and it didn’t look like a penalty," former Zambia coach Renard told L'Equipe.
"However different people will have their own analysis of the situation."
