Bayern München midfielder Xabi Alonso feels there are plenty of similarities between managerial greats Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.
The Spain international previously worked under Mourinho at Real Madrid before making the switch to the Bavarians, where Guardiola is currently at the helm.
And, having enjoyed success under both coaches, Alonso admits he has the utmost respect for each of their approaches to managing football.
"Mourinho and Guardiola are similar in the fact that they are both very hard workers, perfectionists and with a code," he told Libero. "They are two coaches that have left their mark with me."
Alonso went on to reveal he would have been left with a life-long regret had he not helped Madrid to a 10th Champions League title before leaving for Munich.
"Real Madrid is the Champions League and you realise that from the start. If you want to be a part of the club's history, if you want to be remembered, you have to win the Champions League. I would've never forgiven myself if I hadn't won 'La Decima' (10th European Cup title),." he said.
