Deportivo La Coruna moved one point closer to safety when they came from behind to draw 1-1 against Eibar at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurúa on Saturday evening.
In an evenly fought battle, both sides came into the tie with a horrendous run of form – picking up only 11 points in the new year – while Deportivo were fresh from an 8-0 drubbing at the hands of Barcelona.
It didn't get easier on Saturday, as they fell behind in the opening 10 minutes of the must-win fixture.
Midfielder Adrián González scored his fourth goal of the campaign with a sumptuous finish to put the home side ahead.
Mid-way through the second-half, after a great period of dominance and possession, Branquiazuis finally got their equaliser with on-loan Valencia winger Federico Cartabia slotting home a thumping effort after cutting in from the right onto his favoured left foot.
With little in the way of clear-cut chances for the remainder of the fixture, Deportivo secured their 18th draw of the campaign to move seven points clear of the drop zone in 14th spot.
