Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes believes Gareth Bale will cause Manchester City major problems ahead of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.
The two teams will lock horns at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg, with Bale set to have a prominent role after his match-winning performance against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
Morientes believes the Welsh winger, who has yet to score in this season's Champions league, will be a major threat as his pace on the counter will be able to hurt sides not content with containing Los Blancos for the full 90 minutes.
"This is a very good opportunity for him," the former Spain international told Sky Sports News HQ.
"The problem for Bale is that when teams play against Real Madrid it's always slow. They play close to their own goalkeeper and there is not too much space and it is very difficult for him to play like this.
"But he is one of the best players in La Liga and he has a very good opportunity to play well. I know the Real Madrid supporters have a lot of confidence in him."
Despite Bale's injury problems this term, he has impressed in La Liga, scoring 18 goals in 21 appearances for the Spanish giants.
