Blues hit back to level series with Stars

The St Louis Blues earned a series-levelling 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars in the NHL playoffs on Sunday thanks to David Backes’ overtime goal.

Backes struck a powerplay effort 11 minutes into the additional period to make it 1-1 in the best-of-seven series.

The late loss will come as a blow to the Stars after they rallied late on to force overtime, coming from 3-1 down at the end of the first thanks to goals from Mattias Janmark and Jamie Benn in the final period.

The San Jose Sharks beat the Nashville Predators 3-2 to take a 2-0 series lead in their second-round clash.

Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton scored the goals which sealed the win after Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Johansen netted for the Predators.
