Saturday’s Serie A round-up

Chelsea youth must ‘show what they can do’ says Lampard

Saturday’s Serie A action saw both Milan clubs record narrow wins while the rest of the league wait to play on Sunday.

Inter kept a firm hold on fourth place after recording a 2-1 win over Empoli at San Siro, keeping them seven points clear of Fiorentina.

The Nerazzurri took the lead in in the 12th minute when Mauro Icardi smashed an assist from Ivan Perišic into the roof of the net.

With halftime approaching, Manuel Pucciarelli then equalised for the visitors with the help of a cross from Massimo Maccarone in the 37th minute, but Perišic tapped home the winner five minutes before the break after Stevan Jovetic’s shot was parried by Alberto Pelagotti.

A single penalty goal was enough for AC Milan to get all three points in their 1-0 win over Bologna at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.

Colombian striker Carlos Bacca struck from the spot in the 40th minute, with the hosts unable to claw their way back into the game with 10 men after midfielder Amadou Diawara was sent off for his second yellow card after just 12 minutes.
