Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez could be sidelined for four weeks after tearing a muscle in his left thigh.
Rodriguez suffered the injury while representing Colombia in an international friendly against Peru in New Jersey on Tuesday.
After returning to Spain, the 24-year-old underwent tests which revealed the severity of his injury.
"Following the tests carried out on James Rodríguez in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a tear in his left thigh muscle, resulting from a knock he sustained during the match between Colombia and Peru. His condition will be evaluated," a statement from Los Blancos said.
Rodriguez's injury is a blow for Madrid, with the forward having scored two goals and recorded one assist in the two La Liga matches he has played this season.
Madrid will also be without Danilo for the next four weeks after the full-back tore the plantar fascia in his right foot while on international duty with Brazil.
