Zenit defender Domenico Criscito says that, despite regular talk of him returning to Italy and discussions with Internazionale last year, he is happy to remain in Russia.
The 29-year-old revealed he and the Nerazzurri were in talks last year but that he eventually opted to remain in Saint Petersburg.
Criscito has spent five seasons with the Russian Premier League club, a time in which he has won both the league and cup titles.
"I had contact with Inter last summer," the Italy international told TMW Radio. "But with Zenit we decided to continue together and I am very happy with that choice.
"I do miss Italian football, but I am happy here. I'm in a big club. Every year there is talk of my return to Italy, but very little of substance happened. In future I would like to come back.
"Will Inter try for me again? I don't know, you'd have to ask them. I hope to go to the Euros this summer, then we'll see."
Criscito also expressed his delight at being called up for the Azzurri squad that will contest Euro 2016 in France next month.
"It'd be a dream to play at Euro 2016, because in Conte's era I was called up twice. The Nazionale jersey is the ultimate for any player," he added.
