Proudfoot traveling with Bok management

Highlights – Bayer 04 Leverkusen vs 1. FSV Mainz 05

Matthew Proudfoot looks set to join the new-look Springbok management taem after visiting some of the big franchises in South Africa with them.

The former Stormers forwards coach, who was assistant to the current Bok head coach Allister Coetzee, was responsible for transforming the Cape side's pack into a formidable unit.

Proudfoot followed Coetzee to the Far East when the pair teamed up once again as assistant and head coach respectively at one of Japan's top side's, Kobelco Steelers.

The Potchefstroom Boys high product has however not been released from his contract with his club.

Coetzee and his backroom staff, which included the former Scotland international prop, are currently embarking on a roadshow visiting all the major franchises.

According to Netwerk24 it is believed that Coetzee requested SA Rugby to add Proudfoot to his management team.

Whether this was granted by SARU or not we cannot confirm, but not only was Proudfoot seen alongside Coetzee and co. in Bloemfontein earlier in the week but was photographed a few days later (on Thursday) again with the coaching staff at the Kings in Port Elizabeth.

Johann van Graan, the only surviving member from the former Bok coach Heyneke Meyer's team, has been re-appointed as Coetzee's forwards coach for the next four years.
