The MotoGP World Championship moves to the Marco Simoncelli International circuit in Italy this weekend on a resurfaced modified track.
According to owner of the Dromo Circuit Design, Jarno Zaffelli, the new track modifications could see the first sub-1m 32s lap time this weekend.
He has based his predictions on improved lap times during the World Superbike event and on software simulations.
"Based on these facts, thanks to the design works entrusted to us, we can expect an improvement of lap time from 0.7% up to 2.5% depending on the bike category [Moto3, Moto2 or MotoGP] and weather conditions,” he said.
"So watch your Chrono and see if MotoGP will be able to destroy the barrier of 1m 32," he added.
In 2013, Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez set the fastest time ever on the track with a lap of 1m 32.915s to get pole.
