Robben facing lengthy lay-off

Brazil ladies ‘in harmony and ready’ for World Cup challenge

Bayern München winger Arjen Robben is facing up to a month on the sidelines after suffering a groin injury during the Netherlands' clash with Iceland on Thursday.

The 31-year-old has returned to Munich to undergo treatment, meaning he will not remain with the international squad for the clash with Turkey on Sunday.

Robben has also been ruled out of contention for Bayern's opening two Champions League group fixtures against Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb, while he is rated doubtful for the clash with Borussia Dortmund on October 4.

Commenting on the injury, a bitterly disappointed Robben told NOS: "I was super fit, but after a few knocks I felt it in my back.

"That went on to my groin and I couldn't go on with the match.

"Now I will go back to Munich and I will not be playing against Turkey."

The Netherlands will be desperate to get back to winning ways against Turkey after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Iceland, who now occupy top spot in Group A of the 2016 Euro qualifiers.
