Cavaliers re-sign Smith

Marquez suffers big crash in MotoGP Australian GP FP1

The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially re-signed guard J.R. Smith, with the veteran returning for a second season with the Cavs.

Smith, who announced last month that he would be remaining with the Cavs, has reportedly signed a two-year deal that includes a player option for the 2016/17 campaign after opting out of his $6.4million contract for the upcoming season.

The 29-year-old made 45 starts for Cleveland last season, averaging 12.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

While confirmation of Smith's stay will come as good news for Cavaliers fans, the organisation remains in a stalemate with forward Tristan Thompson.
