Rodgers: Markovic has Reds future

Brendan Rodgers insists Lazar Markovic still has a future at Liverpool, despite an imminent loan move to Turkish side Fenerbahce.

The Serbia international joined the club from Benfica a season ago, but struggled to hold down a first-team spot and often found himself played out of position.

Markovic is now reportedly on the verge of a season-long loan move to the Turkish Super Lig, but Rodgers says it does not spell the end of the 21-year-old's Liverpool career.

"Markovic still has a future here," he said. "I won't be commenting on transfers, in or out."

Mario Balotelli has already left Liverpool on loan to former club AC Milan and Rodgers believes it will be a good move for the Italian striker.

"It's a good move for Mario," added Rodgers. "He goes to play and gets a season of playing football in his homeland."
