Top seeds Tommy Sugiarto and Busanan Ongbumrungpan both advanced to the quarter-finals of the Vietnam Open on Wednesday.
Sugiarto made short work of Thammasin Sitthikom in his second round match, beating the player from Thailand 21-9, 21-10 in half an hour.
Ongbumrungpan, on the other hand, had a far tougher time of it in her match against Thi Trang Vu, eventually coming through 21-9, 14-21, 21-18 against the Vietnamese player.
The biggest disappointment of the of the day occured in the women's draw, where the second seed from Spain, Beatriz Corralles withdrew from her second round match against Hana Ramadhini.
In the men's draw, seventh seed Tien Minh Nguen and 10th seed Wei Feng Chong both advanced.
Vietnamese player Tien beat Kantawat Leelavechabutr 22-20, 21-15, while Malaysia's Wei had to come from behind to beat Korea's Kwang Hee Heo, eventually winning 19-21, 21-16, 21-18.
Korean sixth seed Lee Dong Keun also booked his place in the last 32 with a 21-15, 15-21, 21-12 victory over Reksy Aureza Megananda.
It wasn't a good day for the seeds in the women's draw, as fourth seed Kim Hyo Min, seventh seed HsuYa Ching and eighth seed Rong Schafer were all sent packing.
Kim suffered a 21-14, 21-16 defeat at the hands of Xiaoyu Liang, Hsu lost 22-24, 21-10, 23-21 to Saena Kawakami while Dinar Dyah Ayustine trumped Schafer 21-14 21-14.
