Cabella backs new boy Thauvin

Nuno pleased with pre-season progress as Wolves thrash Newcastle 4-0 in Asia Trophy

Former Newcastle winger Remy Cabella believes Florian Thauvin 'has all the qualities' to be a success in the Premier League following his move to St James' Park.

Versatile winger Thauvin joined the Magpies from Marseille for reported fee of £12 million earlier in the transfer window in a deal that saw Cabella go the other way on a season-long loan after just one season in England.

Cabella is confident his compatriot Thauvin will make a positive impact in the North East but has warned of the rigours of the Premier League, insisting he should not expect instant success.

“I think he [Thauvin] can win. He will play left midfield or right midfield and that is the position where the coach was looking for someone," he told RMC Sport.

“He has the qualities to win but it will take a little time as it takes time to adapt to England. He must also get along with the players and he finds automation with the team. It takes time.”
