Tottenham winger Erik Lamela's father has confirmed the club are in talks with Inter over a possible return to the Serie A this transfer window.
Signed from Italian giants Roma in 2013, Lamela has struggled to make an impact during his two seasons at White Hart Lane, netting just two league goals in 38 appearances for Spurs.
Lamela is now eyeing a move back to the Serie A according to his father but admits discussions over a potential move to the San Siro are still very much in their early stages.
"We are in talks with Inter, so we’re discussing it," Jose Lamela told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I can confirm the rumours are true and the interest for Erik is real. We are waiting for more developments over the next few days.
"We would like a return to Italy and are open to negotiations. It’s true that he gave his best in Italy and that is probably more suited to his characteristics.
"We'll see what happens over the final few days of the transfer market. We are waiting for news too.
"Erik was very happy in Serie A and had two great years with Roma. We would like a return to Serie A and we appreciate the Inter option."
