Thiem and Kohlschreiber delayed by rain

‘I will do my best to win a nice coloured medal at Tokyo 2020’ – Nishikori

The Mercedes Cup final between Dominic Thiem and Phillip Kohlschreiber has been delayed due to rain.

The players have endured a stop-start final so far, which eventually was postponed until Monday due to rain in Stuttgart, with Kohlschreiber leading 3-2 in the opening set tiebreaker.

After a couple rain breaks, Thiem had a chance to break the German, but Kohlschreiber saved three break points to tie matters at two games all.

The duo would go on the swap service games without incident until the tiebreaker.

Thiem – who is coming off a best ever semi-final appearance at Roland Garros – is hunting his first ever grass court title, while Kohlschreiber is after his second.
