Monaco midfielder Jeremy Toulalan insists that all is not lost after the first leg of their Champions League qualifier against Valencia ended in a 3-1 defeat.
The Spanish side took the lead early on through Rodrigo, and although Monaco equalised early in the second half via Mario Pasalic, subsequent goals from Dani Parejo and Sofiane Feghouli gave Los Che the advantage going into the second leg back in the principality.
"We committed defensive mistakes and we paid heavily for them," Toulalan told beIN Sports. "It's all a shame because we had chances to score and we did not.
"We could have got a draw but there is still much to play for. We saw that we can create chances, so anything is possible. It will be tough but if we start well at home and score the first goal, everything is still open to us."
The French side will look to undo the damage in the return leg at Stade Louis II next Tuesday, after their Ligue 1 match against Toulouse on Saturday.
