Saints won’t sell United target Mane

Brazil ladies ‘in harmony and ready’ for World Cup challenge

Southampton have no intention of selling forward Sadio Mane to Manchester United, according to a club official.

United are believed to have switched their focus to Mane after a move for Barcelona forward Pedro fell through, with the Spaniard now on the verge of a switch to Chelsea.

The Old Trafford club are reported to have made a bid for the 23-year-old Mane last week, and will now step up their efforts to sign the Senegal international.

However, a club official has told Sky Sports that: "He is a key part of our team and our planning for the future. He wouldn't be sold."

The winger joined Southampton for £11.8million from Red Bull Salzburg a year ago, and impressed in his first season in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals in the campaign, including a hat-trick in a Premier League record time of two minutes 56 seconds against Aston Villa.

Having signed Luke Shaw from Southampton prior to last season, and Morgan Schneiderlin this summer, both in amicable circumstances, United have a good relationship with the South Coast club, but it is believed that as the Saints have no plans to sell Mane – and feel no pressure to do so – a deal is at this stage unlikely.
