Southampton defender Maya Yoshida has called on the squad to bounce back following their shock 3-0 loss at home to Everton on Saturday.
The Saints made a solid start to the campaign, both in the Premier League and in Europe with a 2-2 draw against Newcastle and 5-1 drubbing of Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnheim respectively, but the heavy defeat at St Mary's this weekend has seen many question the quality of Ronald Koeman's squad.
Yoshida, though, believes the club were playing far below their capabilities against the Toffees and says they fully deserved to lose the game.
"Nobody expected it to go like this because it was our opening home game," the Japan international is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail. "We made completely the same mistake as last Sunday against Newcastle from the set-piece.
"The second goal was a mistake. We conceded too easily and I think Everton played like we wanted to play. They deserved to win the game.
"I think we are not like the team we were here. We didn't dominate the opponent."
