Bulls trio on treatment table

Conor McGregor ‘here to stay?’ He was back in October…

The Bulls are sweating over three players who suffered injuries during the team's 29-11 loss to the Jaguares in Buenos Aires last weekend.

Flanker Roelof Smit, prop Lizo Gqoboka and centre Burger Odendaal are all currently under observation by Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw.

"Firstly we have got Roelof Smit, who gave us quite a scare," Rossouw revealed.

"He sustained a laceration in his eye and had to undergo immediate surgery. Luckily the results were quite positive and he'll only miss one week. He should be available to play next week again."

"We also had Lizo Gqoboka who needed to leave the field with an injury to his groin. He was referred for an MRI scan this morning (Monday). We're still waiting on the results and a final decision will be made then. It's unlikely that he will be available for this coming week's fixture against the Sunwolves.

"And then Burger Odendaal, who was removed from the field precautionary as a result of a hard bump against his head. He is making good recovery and it doesn't seem like he sustained any concussion and he should fill in with the team with training as of tomorrow."

In other injury news from the Bulls camp, second-row Grant Hattingh continues to receive treatment on a knee injury and is unavailable for this week's clash with the Sunwolves at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.

"Grant Hattingh is making good progress with his knee. He will be re-assessed tomorrow to see if he can maybe start some of the training with the team," Rossouw added.
