Fiorentina are reportedly set to sign Vitesse defender Kevin Diks, upon the completion of his medical with the Serie A giants.
After joining the junior ranks in 2004, the 19-year-old has spent over a decade with the Dutch outfit and could be seen as a long-term investment for Pantaleo Corvino's side as they look to improve on their fifth-placed finish last season.
A statement released by Vitesse on their official website has confirmed the transfer of Diks, who is set to officially sign with the Italian side upon the successful completion of his medical at the club on Tuesday.
"Vitesse and Italian Fiorentina have agreed on the forthcoming transfer of Kevin Diks. The 19-year-old from Apeldoorn will report to Fiorentina today for the medical examination."
Technical director Mo Allach expressed his delight at the sale of the player, which he believes proves that Vitesse develop and produce quality players.
"This is a transfer that works out well for everyone. We are happy with the deal and for Kevin it is a wonderful step. Also it is a signal that we can sell developed youth players for substantial amounts to a big club abroad. This makes us proud'."
Diks will compete with more experienced campaigners in Gilberto and Nenad Tomovic for a place in Fiorentina's starting line-up.
