Doncaster and Bury’s bizarre double

Highlights – FC Schalke 04 vs FC Bayern M√ľnchen

It's the goals from the opening weekend of the Premier League that are getting most of the airtime, but it's in the third tier of English football that the two most bizarre goals were scored.

In the 90th minute of the League One encounter between Doncaster Rovers and Bury, with the match goalless, Doncaster forward Harry Forrester looked to kick the ball back to Bury keeper Chris Walton after the ball had been put out for an injury stoppage.

However, Forrester didn't realise that Walton was some way off his line, and instead of a sporting return of possession, the Rovers man found the back of the net.

Forrester apologised for the goal, insisting that it wasn’t intentional, and after the two teams discussed the situation, Doncaster manager Paul Dickov instructed his players to let Bury’s Leon Clarke to walk the ball into the goal from the restart.
