Monisha Kaltenborn says Sauber's decision to announce their driver line-up before the summer break was done to avoid silly season speculation.
Last month in the build-up to the Hungarian GP, Sauber confirmed Marcus Ericsson and his current team-mate Felipe Nasr for next season.
The announcement came as a surprise to many as the teams usually wait until after the summer break to name their drivers.
However, Sauber team boss Kaltenborn feels it was the right decision as it means the team can push on with building for the future without having to deal with constant rumours.
"It just brings in a certain consistency, and stability of course, and it just clams things down," she told ESPN.
"There are so many rumours around and our drivers then get questions and they don't know what to say and what is right and what is wrong.
"It clarifies the situation, it's transparent and now everyone knows and all those topics of speculation are over as far as we are concerned."
