Former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve will turn out in the 2105/16 Formula E season.
The 44-year-old will race alongside Stephane Sarrazin at the Venturi team, taking over from Nick Heidfeld.
“Last season, each time I met drivers from Formula E they were saying it is really a very interesting championship," Villeneuve told the the official Formula E website.
“This is the first time in several years that I will participate in a full championship. I am excited because the atmosphere while working alongside the Venturi team is great and that has a very big influence. Also, I know Stéphane Sarrazin well, we trust each other."
The Canadian spent a decade racing in F1, turning out for Williams, BAR, Renault and Sauber, and winning the world title in 1997 after finishing second in his debut season a year earlier.
Since leaving F1, Villeneuve has raced in NASCAR, IndyCar, and the FIA World Rallycross Championship, among others.
