Jayaram wins through to US Open 3rd round

Fourth seed Ajay Jayaram of India had few problem's reaching the third round of the Yonex US Open in El Monte, California on Wednesday.

Jayaram thumped Estonia's Raul Must 21-14, 21-9 in 28 minutes to set up a third round meeting against Pedro Martins of Portugal after he beat Japan's Kodai Naraoka 21-18, 21-14.

The tournament had some late withdrawals prior to the event start with the likes of Indian top seed Kidambi Srikanth, second seed Marc Zwiebler of Germany and England's third seed Rajiv Ouseph all becoming unavailable.   

In some other men's second round matches, Fifth seed H. S. Prannoy of India had few problems getting past Ireland's Joshua Magee 21-9, 21-8 and Spanish eighth seed Pablo Abian beat Timothy Chiu of Canada 21-19, 21-10.

Indian sixth seed B. Sai Praneeth hammered B. R. Sankeerth of Canada 21-15, 21-7 while Kevin Cordon of Guatemala beat Poland's Adrian Dziolko 21-13 21-17.

Japan's Kazumasa Sakai downed R. M. V. Gurusaidutt of India 21-17, 21-12 and Sri Lanka's Niluka Karunaratne needed 52 minutes to defeat Hashiru Shimono of Japan 21-14, 22-20.    

American Howard Shu beat Mexico's Humberto Aguirre Fajardo 21-16, 21-12.
