Mayweather defends Berto choice

‘Deontay Wilder is coming,’ says Fury after beating Schwarz

After suffering much criticism for choosing Andre Berto as his next fight, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has hit back at his doubters saying that Berto is as good as any other opponent.

According to Mayweather, who is the current WBC and WBA champion, the reason he chose Berto was because he thinks ‘The Beast’ is an out of the box fighter.

'Money' also states that if you compare Amir Khan and Berto, they are both equally qualified to fight him.

However, Khan was seen by many boxing experts as the perfect fight for Mayweather  but he instead opted for Berto as he tries to equal Rocky Marciano's record of 49-0

"I have been getting backlash,"They say no-one in the sport will buy the fight. I picked him because he is an exciting fighter," he told

"How many championships has Khan won, two. Berto has won two also."

Elsewhere, during a press conference on Thursday promoting his fight with Berto, Mayweather was criticized yet again for his lackluster and boring tactics against Filipino Pacquio.

Once again the 38-year-old defended his nonchalant performance and explains that the fact that he won is all that matters.

"My job is to go out there and be a chess player and that is what I did. I found a way to win," he added.
