Rossi keen to get racing

Yamaha rider Valentino Rossi is raring to go ahead of this weekend's Indianapolis Grand Prix as he continues to chase a record eighth MotoGP world title.

The 36-year-old Italian has nine more races to go if he is to reach the remarkable world titles milestone. He currently leads the MotoGP standings with 179 points ahead of team-mate Jorge Lorenzo on 166 points.

In a chat with reporters, Rossi said that he was ready to start racing again after the mid-season break.

"I'm ready to start racing again," Rossi said.

"I had a few days of rest, I went on holiday with my friends and I also trained.

"There are another nine races waiting for us and each of these will be very important for the championship," he added.

For Rossi, over the years, the Indianapolis' challenging Brickyard circuit has not been a place where he has enjoyed much success, with his only win coming in 2008.

In last year’s event he finished third behind winning Honda rider Marc Marquez.
