New Zealand will be without veteran batsman and former skipper Ross Taylor for the rest of their tour to southern Africa, after he underwent minor surgery on a groin injury on Thursday night.
Taylor picked up the injury in training on Thursday, ahead of the third ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare, and will thus miss out on the South Africa leg of the trip, which will see two T20s and three ODIs played.
The Black Caps tweeted on Friday morning: "Injury update: Unfortunately Ross Taylor has been ruled out of the rest of the tour after suffering a groin injury at training yesterday."
It's a blow for the Black Caps, as he scored an unbeaten century in the first ODI, and is one of their most experienced players. The team is already missing Brendon McCullum as he is being rested.
The third ODI saw Taylor replaced by all-rounder Jimmy Neesham.
