Lloris likely to miss season opener

‘I don’t need new players’ – Lampard happy with team despite transfer ban

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is set to miss his side's Premier League opener against Manchester United on Saturday.

Lloris made his comeback from a broken wrist in Tottenham's 2-0 win over AC Milan in the Audi Cup on Wednesday, coming on as a 55th-minute substitute.

However, despite putting in an impressive showing against Milan, Mauricio%u200B Pochettino doesn't feel that the 28-year-old is ready to play a full 90 minutes just yet.

"He played 35 minutes and it was fantastic to see," Pochettino told the London Evening Standard. "It was very positive today to assess him, but maybe he is not ready for 90 minutes. But it's very important he is ready to come back."

Should Lloris be ruled out of the match against United, it will be a major blow for Tottenham, with the Frenchman one of Spurs' top performers last season. Should the 28-year-old not be selected, Michel Vorm will take his place in goal.
