Neville named Valencia boss

Copa America 2019: Aguero, Martinez fire Argentina into quarters

Valencia have made the surprise announcement that Gary Neville will take charge of the club until the end of the season.

The La Liga outfit have been looking for a replacement for Nuno, following his departure on Sunday.

Phil Neville had been placed in interim charge at the Vicente Calderon in the meantime and will be on the touchline for Saturday's league clash against Barcelona.

Los Che have now confirmed that his older brother will take the reins on Sunday and will remain in charge until the end of the campaign.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be given this opportunity with Valencia," Neville said in a statement released on the club's website on Wednesday.

"Valencia are a huge football club of immense standing and I know from my time as a player the passion and dedication of the Valencia fans.

"I am really looking forward to working with the club’s talented group of players and am excited about the challenge ahead."

Neville's first game in charge will be against Lyon in the Champions League on Wednesday next week.
