Formula E testing days confirmed

The first round of Formula E testing ahead of the 2016/17 season will be held at Donington Park from August 23 to 25, while the second round of testing will take place from September 5 to 7.

The first day of testing on August 23 will be a private event, but the next two days will be open to the public, who will have an opportunity to see the new Jaguar and Techeetah teams in action.

In total, each team is allowed six days of public testing and 15 days of private testing.

One team that will be looking to make full use of the testing days will be NextEV TCR who are looking to develop their 700R powertrain, which was too heavy and unreliable in the 2015/16 campaign.

The team finished last in the Championship standings, but team principal Martin Leach is confident that the new power unit will serve the team well next season.

“We have been working incredibly hard for some time now on our new car for the 2016/17 season and have our sights firmly set on arriving in Hong Kong very well prepared and with a well-tested car,” he told reporters. “There are some interesting developments for next season, one of which is the increased regeneration levels, and so these technical upgrades have been a part of the work.

“We have been encouraged by our reliability and our programme progress is exactly in line with our planning.

“We look forward to getting on track at Donington for some comparison work against the other teams and to further cementing our strong pre-season testing work and performance.”
