Robinho set to join Guangzhou Evergrande

Flare causes fire at Milan-San Remo race

Santos revealed that they were unable to match the offers made for Robinho, especially from foreign clubs. As a result, Robinho has decided to move on and told reporters: "Unfortunately it won't be possible to renew the contract, but Santos will always remain in my heart."

Robinho joined Santos on loan from AC Milan last year, but after rejecting a new deal from the Brazilian club, he also opted out of his contract with the Serie A side despite having 12 months left on it.

"I want to thank club directors for trying hard to make it possible for me to stay so everybody could be happy," the 31-year-old said. "I'm upset because this is like my family, but life goes on. Santos will remain big and I will try to be happy doing what I like the most, which is playing football."
