Ukraine international midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko has declared himself ready to make maximum use of his loan switch from Manchester City to PSV Eindhoven.

The 19-year-old was signed by City from Russian club FK UFA this summer for a reported fee of two million pounds.

But he was not given the chance to fight for a first team spot in Manchester, instead being asked by manager Pep Guardiola to depart for the Netherlands in order to gain more experience.

Zinchenko says he was initially reluctant, but has since embraced Guardiola's advice to move to PSV.

"The coach called me and asked what I wanted. Of course, I said I wanted to stay in the team," he told Ukrainian newspaper Sport.

"After three days he called me back. We had a good chat and he told me a loan spell would be a very good step because PSV have a very good team, a great coach and I could play at Champions League level with PSV.

"All this is very important for a young player. But of course everything depends on myself. You can develop anywhere if you really want to. Everything depends on your willpower and your focus."

PSV, who are managed by Guardiola’s former Barcelona teammate Phillip Cocu, have taken seven points from their opening three league matches.
