The 50-year-old (55-7-2-KO32), was last in action in November when he was defeated by unbeaten light-heavyweight Sergey Kovalev with the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles on the line.
Previous reports suggested Hopkins, who works with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, was chasing a fight with former super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch but is looking elsewhere with the Nottingham fighter looking increasingly likely to retire.
‘The Alien’ told Fox Sports: “Unlike my business partner Oscar De La Hoya I???ll be confirming that I???m not retired, I???m looking to make one more historical, meaningful fight before I close out my 27-year career.
“Stay tuned, it will be against a well-known name. I???m looking to get a stamp of approval on my legacy.”
Whether the Philadelphia fighter will step back down to super-middleweight or remain at light-heavy to bring the curtain down on his career remains to be seen.
