AS Roma defender Thomas Vermaelen has revealed that he has been hard at work in a bid to return to first-team action from a groin injury sustained in September.
The former Arsenal man has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, with his latest setback limiting him to just two appearances for the Serie A outfit.
His latest injury problem has seen him miss a total of seven encounters in all competitions for Roma since arriving on a season-long loan from the La Liga giants.
The Belgium international took to his personal Twitter account to publicise details of his progress, and expressed his excitement at making a return to first-team action.
"Although I haven't been as much on the pitch as I hoped for, I'm very happy to be part of the club," he wrote.
"Working hard on my recovery now and trying to get back as soon as I can."
