Dyche downplays Heaton injury fears

Who is the Bundesliga’s “Mr. 100%” from the penalty spot?

Burnley head coach Sean Dyche says goalkeeper Tom Heaton may recover in time for their Premier League clash with Southampton on Sunday.

Heaton injured himself during a training session with the England national team after being called up by Gareth Southgate for the World Cup Qualifying squad.

However, Dyche has downplayed the seriousness of Clarets captain's latest injury blow and feels the extra day of rest could prove crucial to the player's hopes of passing a late fitness test.

"He seems okay. We'll get more news over the next days, the extra day is helpful with us playing Sunday," he told reporters."We don't think it's too serious. He did it in training, he felt his calf was a bit tight.

"The Football Association were really good with that (withdrawing him from Slovenia game), we got it checked out and it's just a tiny little strain but you've still got be careful with these things.

"It's an extra training day to be feeling right about everything and ready to go.

"We're hopeful but there's no guarantees, the game's still a few days away but we're very hopeful on it."
