Sourabh Varma knocked out top seed Jen Hao Hsu to advance to the final of the men's singles at the Chinese Taipei Masters on Saturday.

The Indian shuttler would edge the local hero, eventually winning 6-11, 11-4, 13-15, 11-5, 11-9 on the courts of the Hsing Chuang Gymnasium in Taipei.

The result was not the only upset of the day, as Malaysian star Daren Liew would trounce Yu Hsien Lin 11-9, 6-11, 11-3, 12-10, booking him a place in Sunday's final with Varma.

In the women's draw, Japan continued to dominate. Third seed Ayumi Mine defeated fifth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of thailand 11-8, 11-4, 11-5.

That set up an all-Japanese final, as Saena Kawakami had  defeated fellow countrywomen Asuka Takahashi 11-7, 11-8, 11-8 earlier in the day.
