WBA delay decision on Joshua-Klitschko fight

The proposed fight between Anthony Joshua and Wladimir Klitschko continues to hang in the balance after the WBA delayed a decision on whether to sanction a world title clash.

Klitschko’s potential December showdown against Joshua has been thrown into doubt, with the Ukrainian eager for the vacant WBA belt to be on the line in any bout.

If a meeting against IBF champion Joshua does not include the WBA strap, then Klitschko is expected to face Lucas Browne, in Germany, instead.

The WBA had been expected to make their decision on Thursday over who will compete for their title, but they have decided to postpone that announcement.

President Gilberto Mendoza Jr told ESPN that there were “too many legal matters to consider” concerning “the settlement agreement with Lucas Browne”.

Joshua’s fellow Brit, David Price, has challenged the former Olympic gold medalist, if the proposed Klitschko fight falls through.
