Blue Jackets claim first NHL win of season

The Columbus Blue Jackets recorded their first NHL win of the season by beating the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 on Friday, thanks to 32 saves from Sergei Bobrovsky.

The Blue Jackets were the only NHL team without a win at the start of the day, but William Karlsson’s sealed the victory.

Meanwhile, Johnny Boychuk’s shorthanded goal in the third period helped the New York Islanders snatch a 3-2 win against the Arizona Coyotes, while Gustav Nyquist scored one and set up another as the Detroit Red Wings saw off the Nashville Predators 5-3.

Nyquist, Drew Miller, Tomas Tatar and Justin Abdelkader all grabbed their first goals of the season and Darren Helm completed the victory by converting into an empty net late on.
