Tamim keen for Gayle experience

Colin Cowherd knows exactly how No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 12 Syracuse will end on Saturday

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has expressed his eagerness to experience batting with T20 expert Chris Gayle for the Chittagong Vikings.

Gayle has signed on for the 2016 Bangladesh Premier League with the Vikings and is set to open the batting with the team's skipper in the opener on Saturday November 5.

Tamim said of Gayle: “I am definitely looking forward to opening with him (Gayle). I’ve never batted with him. It’ll be a different experience. He is such a player…when he is on song, the game of cricket looks so easy. He is without a doubt the best player in this format.”

The Tigers opener doesn't want his team to rely n Gayle though and feels the unit has ample firepower.

Tamim stressed: “I don’t want any Chris Gayle factor in the team. When there is something like this and that player fails, the whole team falls short.

“I think (Anamul Haque) Bijoy matters as much to us as Gayle does. Everybody must have the same importance. I refuse to give any one player extra importance."

Tamim is hoping for a high scoring touranament confessing: “This is T20 cricket, the runs raise the fun here. I am actually hoping for 170-180 runs in either innings in matches. Everyone wants to see fours and sixes in T20s, so it’ll be good.”

Gayle has been involved in every edition of the BPL and holds the record for the most centuries in the tournament.
