The Montreal Canadiens were left embarrassed after suffering a 10-0 defeat to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night, their first regulation defeat of the new NHL season.
Back-up goaltender Al Montoya conceded 10 times from 40 shots as the Canadiens’ impressive eight-game winning streak came to a crashing end.

The game was even more remarkable for the fact that Columbus had previously scored just 21 goals in eight games this season, while Montreal had conceded only 14 in their 10 outings.
Elsewhere, the Winnipeg Jets scored three unanswered goals inside the last eight minutes to get the better of the Detroit Red Wings 5-3, while the Anaheim Ducks scored three times in the first period as they crushed the Arizona Coyotes 5-1.
