United finished fourth this season, which will see them return to the Champions League, but manager Louis van Gaal believes that the club will need to go on a spending spree if they want to win any major silverware next season.
The Red Devils have already signed Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven and now have their eyes on Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and Real Madrid forwards Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
"United spent 200 million on players last year and they are going to spend another 200 million this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title," van Persie told the Manchester Evening News.
Van Persie has also vowed to bounce back from a disappointing season, which saw him score only 10 goals in 27 Premier League games.
"It is my ambition to play as many games as possible [next season]. I feel fitter than ever," he said. "And I know that the more games I play, the more it will help me prepare for the European Championships next summer.
"I will take everything into consideration when I decide on my future and I know I have to be realistic about the situation."
