Kuwait seal last-eight spot

PSM Makassar – Flying under the radar in AFC Cup 2019

Abdullah Al Buraiki scored from the penalty spot before Rogerinho made it two, as the Kuwait outfit booked their place in the last eight for the fifth time.

It was the visitors who dominated the opening 45 minutes, with Al Buraiki and Rogerinho both going close, while Marwan Hussein made a hash of Al Shorta's best chance.

Kuwait would have to wait until the 80th minute to make their breakthrough, with Al Buraiki slotting home from the spot after goalkeeper Mohammed Kassid had committed a foul.

Al Shorta were forced to attack as they desperately looked for an equaliser, but the Iraqi side were made to pay for over-committing their resources up front as they were caught on the counter by Kuwait, with Rogerinho rounding off a swift break.
