The Timberwolves, who lost 66 games during the 2014-15 season, had a 25 per cent chance of getting the top pick as they finished with the worst record in the league.

With the coveted top pick in their pocket, the Timberwolves now have the chance to chose from a number of high-profile players, including Kentucky forward Karl-Anthony Towns, Duke center Jahlil Okafor, Ohio State point guard D'Angelo Russell and 19-year-old Emmanuel Mudiay, who played in China this season.

The Los Angeles Lakers received the second pick of the NBA draft, while the Philadelphia 76ers will pick third, the New York Knicks fourth and the Orlando Magic fifth.

The 2015 NBA draft will be held at the Barclays Center, which is the home of the Brooklyn Nets, on June 25.
