Bottas has been heavily linked with a move to Ferrari, with his manager, Didier Coton, confirming that Bottas' contract with Williams expires at the end of the current season.
With Bottas doing his bit to impress on the race track, Hakkienen believes that his management team are the ones responsible for ensuring the 25-year-old is in a car capable of challenging for title.
“Didier Coton has already given an answer in Barcelona,” Hakkinen told Hermes. “I do not want to say any more, too.
“Valtteri’s job is everything that has to do with his work as a racer to succeed.
“The managers shall be responsible for the things off the track so that Valtteri one day has the chance to become world champion.”
Bottas currently sits in fifth place in the driver's standings, with 42 points from the opening five races of the season.
