Ko to take a break

F1 British Grand Prix – Valtteri Bottas pole position lap

Ko's coach, David Leadbetter, has spoken for some time of his belief that the 18-year-old needs to take a break in order to maintain her standing as the word's top player.

While initially hesitant to do so, Ko appears to have taken Leadbetter's advice and following this week's Kingsmill Championship she will look to recharge her batteries ahead of the Women's PGA Championship, the year's second major, which gets underway on June 10.

The PGA Championship kicks off a busy few months from June to September during which time three further majors – the U.S. Women's Open, the Women's British Open and the Evian Championship – will be decided.

"When you start these majors there is really no stopping until the end of Evian," said Ko.

"[I need to] have some time off to kind of keep the body fresh. It's only one third of the season gone [and] still two thirds to go," she added.

Ko has yet to claim her maiden major title, and struggled at the ANA Inspiration, the first major of 2015, coming home in a tie for 51st.
